Legs, 2024
paper clay, metal, latex
55 x 55 x 56cm
Legs explores themes of objectification, transcorporeality, and the delicate balance between fragility and strength. The work critiques societal structures that constrain women’s bodies, questioning rigid boundaries and traditional representations. The hanging latex evokes the act of shedding skin, conjuring images of afterbirth and myths of renewal, while symbolising cycles of transformation and regeneration. This visceral materiality engages with feminist ideas of reclaiming autonomy and identity, suggesting a metaphorical birthing of the self.
